Our version of luxury

Perfection. Performance.

We created the 290 NG with the user and usage in mind. A next-generation Brandskär, with timeless perfection and performance. We believe the ocean is there to be experienced, and with our new boat, we’ve made the most of our legacy and built a boat that allows you to experience the ocean 365 days a year.

Our best boat yet, built to be used

"The ocean is there to be experienced"

With the launch of the 290 NG, we’re setting the standard for how a boat of this kind should look and handle. We’re also showing that it’s possible to combine robustness and seaworthiness with social spaces and a high level of comfort. The 290 NG is built for people who value a high level of comfort and simplicity, along with solid craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.

Compared with its predecessor, the 290 Classic, the 290 NG sees huge improvements to the social spaces in the aft, and has gained an outstanding lower cabin to boot. With cutting-edge technology from Garmin, the 290 NG is so easy to handle that you can drive it by yourself if you need to. However, one thing which hasn’t changed from the 290 Classic to the 290 NG is the incredible hull, which is well known for its extraordinary sea handling.

Cutting-edge technology

Our watchwords during development and construction have always been performance and perfection. Over the years, this has proven to be a winning formula, and Brandskär has endured through both tough and prosperous economic times with its flag flying high. To maintain quality, our yard has gone against the grain and chosen to keep all manufacturing in Sweden, despite this costing more.

“The future looks bright, and this successful launch has given us more confidence, and confirms we’re headed in the right direction. We build our boats in Sweden, using Swedish suppliers. Many other companies outsource their manufacturing abroad to chase margins. If we did this, we’d lose the ability to control our own manufacturing, which would lead to all kinds of uncertainty in terms of quality.”

Our watchwords during the development of the new Brandskär 290 NG were simplicity and comfort. Thanks to completely new, cutting-edge technology from Garmin/Trigentic, all the boat’s technical systems are brought together on one big screen by the driver’s seat, and the stern thruster, trim tabs, and navigation can be maneuvered from the wheel. It’s easy to draw immediate parallels with the latest cars, which are packed to the brim with technology and guidance systems.

All central information and control functionality can be managed through an app, making boat ownership that bit easier. From the app, you can easily deactivate the alarm, control the lighting, play music, and set a timer for the heating, so you can arrive to a warm boat when it’s time to head out. The app also provides the user with important information such as when it’s time to replenish the water supply, or empty the septic tank, or if the boat needs to be refueled before departure.

The Brandskär 290 NG is the first boat in the world with this technology from Garmin, and this just the start of a long partnership between our companies.

The boat’s technology is optimized to simplify and minimize the number of steps that need to be performed from standing on the jetty to setting off. The goal has always been to make boat ownership as easy as possible, so you don’t need to spend too long getting things ready, and can simply focus on experiencing the sea.

The canopy, which has also been developed and refined to be easy to put up and take down, works together with the boat’s cutting-edge technology and sea-safe hull, so everyone can feel safe both owning and traveling in a Brandskär.

Comfort with full headroom

Comfort was a big focus during the development of the 290 NG. The boat has generous social spaces both fore and aft, and there is plenty of room and amenities for two people to stay overnight on the boat.  There are spacious double berths, with a closet with drying facilities, and a separate area for showering and using the bathroom, all with full headroom.

Preparation work and interviews during the development process revealed a clear trend in how people choose to use their boat.

“This trend is easy to analyze. People are taking more daytrips, and fewer long trips with overnight stays. That’s why with the 290 NG, we’ve created astonishingly generous social spaces in the aft, and a similar, smaller space in the fore. Ten to twelve people can go out on a daytrip together, enjoying the sea and socializing, with no problem at all.”

Swedish construction

Right from the start in 1995, Brandskär boats have always been built with passion on Vindön, Orust. It started as a project to build a seaworthy boat that could handle being at sea 365 days a year. Today, many years and boats later, this foundation is still strong, and the model program has been refined and adapted to how our boats are used and what new technology allows us to do. With the launch of the 290 NG, Brandskär is taking a huge step forward, and is setting the standard for how a boat of this kind should look and handle. We’re also showing that it’s possible to combine robustness and seaworthiness with social spaces and a high level of comfort.
